Tweed has many qualities.
As well as being water repellent, warm and a natural, ancestral cloth it is also incredibly versatile when it comes to styling.
Tweed has a ‘country’ origin.
Indeed many estates around Scotland have their own tweed fabric designed for them to create garments.
But when designed well, tweed can find its place in an urban setting, be stylish.. and even glamorous.
Here’s our most versatile coats in Edinburgh vs Scottish highlands.

Cora in Harris Tweed Check
The CORA coat is an oversized Winter wrap coat with matching long belt to tie around middle. It has an exaggerated deep curved collar and has sleeves that can be turned up or left down to cover hands. It has deep side pockets and back split detail.

Edith in Harris Tweed Rust Check
The EDITH coat has a retro collar reminiscent of Hollywood glamour, cinched in waistline and full flared skirt with deep side pockets.
The sleeves are slim cut with split detailing on the bottom edge which allows for a turn up.
The coat has two front British made buttons.

Fiona in Borders Tweed Olive Green
The FIONA coat has a loose fit style with drop shoulder and wide ¾ length sleeves. It is single breasted and sits at knee-length. Featuring shell buttons and front square pockets.

Emma Jacket in Sage Herringbone
Stand out in the crowd wearing our beautifully fitted shape short jacket with an homage to retro style.
British made buttons sourced from Courtney & Co.
Lining in a contrast petrol blue picking up the blue in the tweed check herringbone.

Marta in Harris Tweed Green Herringbone
The MARTA coat is our longest length coat and sits lower calf. It is double breasted with front buttons off set to the side. This coat buttons fully to the neckline with curved collar. It has deep slanted side pockets and deep back split. It features British made buttons.

Cora in Harris Tweed Emerald Green
The Cora coat is crafted from Harris Tweed, sourced in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
We refer to it as our cuddle coat as it envelopes the body with an enormous hug. The sleeves can be turned up or left down to cover hands on the coldest of days.
A versatile stylish coat that is perfect for a day’s shopping in the City or for a long walk in the Countryside.
We have intentionally given it a generous longer belt to allow a dramatic tying to the front or side. A truly iconic coat that will never date.

Bonnie in Harris Tweed Black Herringbone
The BONNIE jacket is a short boxy jacket with stand-up mandarin collar. Featuring internal front buttons. It has a short belt on the front only and side pockets. It sits at waist length.

Fiona in Harris Tweed Check
The Fiona coat is crafted from Harris Tweed, sourced from the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
The Fiona coat is the perfect dress down coat. Loose fitting with ¾ length sleeve and single front buttoning.
The ideal everyday coat and perfect to wear with jeans or trousers into town for a girls’ lunch but equally great for a rural out of town pub lunch.
Extremely useful this is a coat that is sure to get lots of wear. It certainly won’t sit in your wardrobe for long.
So whether you live in the country, a small town or a busy city an Elizabeth Martin coat will become your favourite piece in your wardrobe.
The question is.. which one will you choose?
